Over the course of his 35 years engaged within the business and culture of nonprofit, Jeff Hood has accumulated a great many valuable experiences, life lessons and insights. During this period of time, he has additionally learned meaningful lessons of what to do, and how to do it, however, most importantly, he learned valuable lessons of what not to do in the world of nonprofit business and programmatic engagement.
With the formation of this comprehensive nonprofit specialty consulting firm, we (our committed, talented, experienced & impactful group of consultants) will be able to utilize our collective experiences to provide valuable insight, instruction, guidance, direction, support aid, and assistance to benefit our clients.

Jeff formerly served as the Chief Executive Officer for the National Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, Inc. organization. During his tenure at National PAL, the organization experienced unprecedented and significant growth in the areas of organizational management, fund development, brand awareness, increase in chapter membership, special event enhancement, activation and fiscal growth, community service focus and engagement and event activation. Jeff has been employed or involved with nonprofit organizations and service-related causes for more than 35 years. Prior to joining National PAL, Jeff served as the Executive Director for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Activities League, was the Co-Founder and Executive Director for Athletes United for Youth (formally Dell Curry Charity for Youth), along with the Director of Adolescent Services at the McLeod Addictive Disease Center. In honor of and paying homage to his mother, Doris "Hoodie" Hood, who is a retired educator with the NYC Board of Education and a devoted community youth advocate, Jeff founded the Hoodie's House of Hope for Youth Foundation, whose mission is in aiding and addressing Homelessness, Hunger, Education, Leadership Development, Mentoring and out of school time programs. Jeff is most effective in planning, implementing, and engaging with programs that are designed to help youth make right decisions that will positively impact their future. Jeff also specializes in how to start a nonprofit organization, organizational and programmatic evaluation or review, executive coaching, program development and activation, event planning, fundraising and grant writing. He is credited with having initiated several Celebrity Charity Golf Classics, Concerts, Gala's, Youth Clinics, and the nationally recognized Hoodie's House National HS Hoop's Classic. Jeff, a native of Queens, NY was inducted into the N.C. Wesleyan Sports Hall of Fame after having completed a stellar basketball career. In 2018, Jeff was recognized by the NBA's Charlotte Hornets as their Tissot Gift of Time Community Service Person of the Year. He was also Honored and Recognized as a "Made Man" of Charlotte, NC. In 2019 NOBLE recognized Jeff as their Civil Rights Justice By Action for Youth of the Year Award, while in 2022, Jeff was presented with an award from National PAL for Exceptional and Valued Leadership. Jeff is married to Gloria Sledge Hood and together have a wonderful daughter named Maya.
Dr. Alice P. Bartley is a passionate educator who has impacted the field of education for over three decades. She currently serves as School Leadership Coach with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). She has served at all levels of the education spectrum as teacher, principal, district director, and state department of education consultant. As an independent consultant, she conducted comprehensive needs assessments and audits of schools to support the development of high-quality school improvement plans. Dr. Bartley’s experience spans across the elementary, secondary and higher education learning environments. She has had the unique opportunity to work in urban, suburban, and rural areas along the Mid-Atlantic and the US Virgin Islands. While working in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as the Principal of an alternative school for adolescence with substance abuse issues, she, along with Jeff Hood, co-founded the Dell Curry Youth Foundation. This program infused Social Emotional Learning strategies into the school programming to promote sustainability success for students returning to the general education setting. A major accomplishment for Dr. Bartley as the Specific Learning Disabilities Consultant for the NCDPI was leading a group of stakeholders to develop a Response to Intervention (RTI) Problem-solving Instructional Assistance Model that was lauded by the Federal Government. As the School Performance and Restructuring Specialist in the District of Columbia Public Schools,she served as the lead writer for the Federal 1003(g) School Improvement Grant, which was funded for $10 million to transform the district’s lowest performing schools. Dr. Bartley continues her passionate advocacy for equity and excellence in schools through her current work. She has a Ph.D. in Minority and Urban Education from the University of Maryland, an M.A.Ed. in Specific Learning Disabilities from East Carolina University and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from NC Wesleyan University.
Barbara has a strong background with over thirty years of non-profit consulting experience that has included leadership development, non-profit management, program evaluation, impactful programs, development experience, and event and conference management.
She has led trainings, workshops and provided keynote presentations for national programs, state programs, and non-profits throughout the country. She has written millions of dollars’ worth of successful grant applications for clients from local, State, and federal funders; has served as a peer reviewer for federal grants and has successfully raised millions of dollars through development activities. Her experience also includes contract oversight and reporting, program development, and development of resources and training for programs serving youth and communities. Throughout her career, Barbara has excelled in unlocking the hidden potential of the organizations that she has served or worked with.
Earnest Winston is an experienced, values-driven educational leader and communications professional who currently serves as an advisor for Daybreak Health, which partners with districts and schools to provide personalized mental health support to help students reach their full potential. Winston is a former superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where he also served as chief of staff, chief community relations and engagement officer, external communications supervisor, and an English teacher. He began his career as a reporter for the Mansfield News Journal in Ohio, later moving to the Cincinnati (Ohio) Enquirer where he covered local government in the city and nearby towns, as well as education in Northern Kentucky. He left Cincinnati to join the Charlotte Observer, where he covered government, development, general news – and wrote about his cousin Jennifer Hudson’s rise to fame on “American Idol.” Winston is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Charlotte and a 2016 graduate of the Leadership Development Initiative (Community Building Initiative). He has been recognized as an Atrium Health Martin Luther King Jr. Growing the Dream Award recipient (2019) and a YBM Leadership Alliance Success Leader (2016). He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. A native of Chicago, Winston has a passion for learning. He holds a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University and expects to earn a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024. He is married with two daughters.
Tosha Arriola is currently an administrator at an independent school in Charlotte, NC. She was a professor and the Director of the Teaching Fellows Program at Queens University of Charlotte. Tosha has been an educator for 29 years and also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica. She received her B.A. in Spanish and Education from Cortland State University and her Masters of Education in Literacy from Queens University of Charlotte. She has a certificate in Executive Coaching and a Masters of Science degree in Organization Development from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte, as well. Tosha’s areas of expertise include organization development, coaching, leadership development, and cultural diversity training. She is the founder of CustomEx Consulting where she supports leaders with her 8-week online group coaching program called Resilient Leadership where she empowers people to lead with compassion, connection, and courage.
Dr. Keith Cradle is the Juvenile Services Liaison for Healthy Blue NC/BCBS and responsible for working with judges, law enforcement agencies and key court influencers around the state to build relationships and identity opportunities to drive systems change.
Previously, Dr. Cradle was the Director of Youth/Juvenile Services for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and responsible for juveniles/youthful offenders dealing with detention and the staff associated with successful implementation of rehabilitation/re-entry and youth development programs/initiatives.
Dr. Cradle is currently on the Board of Directors for The Mint Museum Contemporary Art Board, McColl Center for the Arts, Charlotte Trail of History and Outward History Bound of NC. He has previously sat on the Board of Directors for Inspire the Fire, Carolina Voices, Hands on Charlotte, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, the Charlotte Advisory Committee for the Knight Foundation and the Ada Jenkins Center. Keith’s involvement and commitment to underserved youth in Charlotte have led him to start Camping With Cradle that exposes youth to the outdoors.
Dr. Cradle is a native of White Plains, NY, currently resides in Charlotte, NC and is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He has a BA in Communications from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC and his Master’s Degree in Health Administration from UNC- Charlotte, a dual Master’s of Business Administration and a Master’s of Science in Leadership and Organizational Change from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC. and his Ph.D. in Leadership and Organizational Change from Walden University.
